Wood pressed oil, also known as cold pressed oil, is extracted using traditional techniques that preserve its natural nutrients and flavor. Unlike refined oils, which undergo chemical processing, wood pressed oils are produced using a slow, mechanical process without heat. Here’s how it’s done:
1. Selection of High-Quality Seeds
The process begins with selecting high-quality, naturally grown seeds or nuts. Common choices include:
Groundnut (Peanut) – Rich in monounsaturated fats and vitamin E.
Coconut – Known for its antibacterial properties and lauric acid content.
Sesame – Packed with antioxidants and beneficial lignans.
2. Cleaning & Drying
The selected seeds are thoroughly cleaned to remove dust, dirt, and other impurities. They are then sun-dried to ensure proper moisture levels, which helps in efficient oil extraction.
3. Crushing in a Wooden Press (‘Chekku’ or ‘Ghani’)
The dried seeds are placed into a wooden press (chekku or ghani), where a heavy wooden pestle slowly crushes them. The slow rotation (typically 4-6 rotations per minute) ensures that the oil is extracted without generating heat, preserving its nutrients and aroma.
4. Natural Filtration
Once extracted, the oil is left undisturbed for a few days to allow the solid residues to settle at the bottom. The top layer of clear, pure oil is then filtered naturally without the use of chemicals.
5. Storage & Packaging
The filtered oil is stored in glass bottles, stainless steel containers, or food-grade plastic bottles to maintain its purity. It is then ready for distribution, ensuring customers receive fresh, unprocessed oil.
Why This Method is Superior
No heat or chemicals – Preserves vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Rich flavor & aroma – Natural taste that enhances food quality.
Eco-friendly – Sustainable process with minimal waste.
By choosing wood pressed oil, you are embracing purity, health, and tradition—all in a single drop!
